When did hate become so much a part of our world? It’s spoken, acted upon, and used daily. This found. letter word in my book is a great deal worse than the following, fuck, shit, and other found letter words you could think of.
When I was a kid I was taught never to hate anyone or anything. You could dislike it, but never use the word. hate. It was a bad word among my immediate family members, including my Dad, Mom, GrandPa, and GrandMa.
I can remember a time when you didn’t have to worry about hate crimes. Now it’s a regular event in the news. I can’t think of a day recently when I haven’t heard about a hate crime being committed.
My question is why? Why are hate crimes up? Why is it newsworthy? Would it be better to ignore it?
Sometimes when you ignore something it goes away. It doesn’t always happen, but in most cases it does.
I will say there are many things I hate, like the word hate, the hate crimes happening and the hate talk that is going on, but hating it doesn’t make it go away, and neither does the news.
I tend to think the news glamorizes hate crimes, rhetoric, and anything else tied to hate. The hate in this world continues to grow and set fires in its wake.
When and how will it end?
Maybe it’s on us non-haters to speak up and out?
